Why did you go into therapy?
Before moving to the U.S., I wasn’t familiar with psychology or the impact of mental health on our lives. Coming here opened my eyes to the profound role mental health plays in overall well-being and how cultural differences shape people’s willingness to seek help. I became aware of the stigma surrounding mental health in Chinese communities, where seeking support is often considered taboo. This realization inspired me to advocate for mental health awareness and help my Asian and Chinese communities recognize the importance of seeking care without fear or shame.
Describe your therapeutic approach and what makes it unique?
I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathetic therapeutic space where clients from diverse cultural backgrounds can freely explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My approach centers on empowering clients to connect with their inner strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and work toward personal growth and healing. I take pride in tailoring my approach to each individual's unique needs, with a special focus on cultural sensitivity and respect.
