Therapy Fees & Insurance FAQs

What If My Therapist Is Out of Network?

If you're working with a therapist at Provia who is out of network, you may still be able to use your insurance benefits—especially if you have a PPO plan.

Here's how the process typically works:
1. You pay your therapist directly at the time of your session.
2. We provide you with a superbill, which is a detailed receipt with the information your insurance company requires.
3. You submit the superbill to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

Many of our clients are surprised to learn that they qualify for partial reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits.

If you're unsure, we can help guide you through how to check your coverage.

What are your session fees?

Session fees vary depending on the therapist and service provided. Most therapy sessions are 53 minutes in length. While we do not list individual therapist fees on this page, our team is happy to discuss rates during your consultation.

Fees are due at the time of service. We accept:
- Credit and debit cards
- HSA and FSA cards

If cost is a concern, we are happy to help connect you with a provider on our team who offers lower-fee options—or refer you to trusted low-cost providers in the area.

Using an HSA or FSA

You may use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for sessions, whether your therapist is in-network or out-of-network. These tax-advantaged accounts can also be used toward psychological testing and other eligible services.

Why Do Some Therapists Not Accept Insurance?

Some of our providers choose to remain out of network in order to:
- Offer more flexibility and privacy
- Customize your care without insurance limitations
- Avoid diagnosis or documentation requirements that may not apply

Even if your therapist is out of network, you can often still use your PPO benefits. We’re happy to walk you through how that works.

Coming Soon!

We're currently creating a short video to help you better understand how out-of-network therapy works, what a superbill is, and how to get the most from your insurance plan—even if your therapist isn't in-network. Stay tuned!
