Edith Ortiz Salgado, AMFT, APCC

Edith Ortiz Salgado, AMFT, APCC | Bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist | Provia Psychology

I believe my cultural lens and my own hardships are what make me a unique therapist. My experiences give me an empathy that helps clients become more vulnerable when they are in the room with me.

Why I became a Therapist:

Everyone has a story and everyone's story matters. My story led me to therapy at a young age, where I noticed that if my therapists came from a similar cultural background, I could feel more understood. That motivated me to become the person the child version of me needed.

Describe your therapeutic approach and what makes it unique?

I use research-based therapies, as well as a collaborative approach, to guide my sessions. I tend to work with clients who have experienced childhood trauma and/or hardships in early childhood. Additionally, I work with clients who want to modify their adult behaviors and thoughts and are curious where they stem from. My experiences as a first-generation Mexican-American give me insight into the daily challenges the BIPOC community faces. Lastly, I help clients become aware of their attachment styles, which gives them insight into how they tend to interact with people.
