Why I became a Therapist:
I like to believe my profession found me. I've always been intrigued by human behavior and passionate about social justice. As a young child I took on a "helper" role frequently being sought out for advice. Naturally, Social Work became a calling.
Describe your therapeutic approach and what makes it unique?
I use EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic interventions to guide clients in healing their childhood trauma with the goal of improving their lives and relationships today. My cultural background, identity and informal collaborative approach aids in making the therapy journey relational and easier for the client.
My approach is collaborative; I offer a brave space for you to show up as you are and engage in a reflective process that will lead you back to love, back to yourself. I am very authentic in session, and I tend to be more free flowing while also supporting my clients as they do the challenging work of healing, and evolving. Clients typically come to me seeking deep healing and introspection to heal childhood attachment wounds that interfere with their lives today. I use an eclectic and integrative approach that targets core maladaptive beliefs learned early in life. The treatment plan is determined by and catered to each individual client's needs. We decide together what progress looks like. I specialize working with the LGBTQIA community and BIPOC with relationship issues, marital/relationship challenges (including dating), identity issues, anxiety, loss/grief, depression and trauma.
